Miniato

About Miniato

Miniato is a public observatory of artificial-intelligence incidents built on the Miniato Scale, an eleven-level ordinal scale for the realised consequences of AI incidents. The scale was proposed by Santiago Miniato Santa María Morales (Madrid, independent researcher) in a preprint (version 1.0, rules pilot-1.0). Miniato.org is the institution that applies it in public, with evidence, review and challenge.

Current status

Phase 1 build. The scale and its reference implementation are public (santismm/miniato-scale); these transparency pages are public; the incident observatory, reporting and challenges are not yet open. No incident has been published. When the first records appear they will name their sources, rules version, cut-off and review state.

People and funding

Founder Custodian: Santiago Miniato Santa María Morales. No external funding at this time. The project is designed for progressive transfer to an independent scientific community; see governance.

Contact

Research and correspondence: santismm@gmail.com. Security issues in this site: a private vulnerability-reporting route will be published before launch; until then use the same address and do not post exploit details publicly. This address is not a secure channel for confidential AI-incident disclosures; see report.

Licence

Intended direction, pending legal review: CC BY 4.0 for methodology and documentation, Apache 2.0 for software, CC0 for the factual dataset. Until the notices are final, the reference implementation keeps its MIT licence and all other rights are reserved. “Miniato” and “Miniato Scale” are trust marks: truthful statements such as “assessed using Miniato Scale rules pilot-1.0” are welcome; implying endorsement or presenting a modified method as canonical is not.

How this site is built

The site’s source, its specification pack, decision register and review records are kept in a repository that is not yet public; they will be published through an authorized route before launch, and this page will link to them only once they are reachable without an account. The scale’s paper and reference implementation are already public at santismm/miniato-scale. Development is assisted by AI coding agents under a declared operating profile (one plans and reviews, one implements); every change is recorded, tested and reviewed against the specification. AI assistance in engineering is not AI adjudication of incidents.
